Kelly’s hardly qualifies as a dive bar anymore. A few years back, the charming but dilapidated old bayside dump was transformed into a sleek waterfront hangout.Way off the beaten tourist path, Kelly’s has long been a favorite with locals who come for the strong drinks (their Bloody Marys rock!), good food, awesome view, and, get this, convenient parking. There’s a full menu with upscale dockside fare–burgers, salads, etc.—and a couple of seafood favorites, making it an excellent choice for casual (and even formal) lunch dates and spur-of-the-moment brunches. Tired of your usual landlocked haunts? Round up a gaggle of friends and head toward the Bay. Time it right and you’ll practically have the place to yourself. Afternoons at Kelly’s are usually the best if you’re trying to avoid the crowds. Besides, there’s nothing like throwing back a few while catching some rays outside on the deck and watching the cargo boats cruise by.
