Spend the summer at Jack London Square with a fun-filled month of free outdoor fun on the Oakland waterfront. From the Bay Area’s largest bicycle festival to festive outdoor movie nights, the July calendar offers something for everyone to enjoy including the Fourth of July Festival of Family Fun, Pedalfest, Dancing Under the Stars, Waterfront Flicks, Jack’s Night Market and more.

Celebrate Independence Day at Jack London Square’s annual July 4th Festival of Family Fun! Bring the kids and enjoy the red, white and blue festivities on the waterfront with a merry mix of performers including an Uncle Sam stilt walker, jugglers, magicians, hula hoopers and dancers. Free to attend, families will also enjoy the interactive river environments of Riveropolis, music, Conscious Carnival games, delicious eats, a petting zoo, hands-on arts and crafts, bicycle and kayak rentals and more.

Pedalfest brings all things bicycle to Jack London Square for the Bay Area’s premier free bicycle festival on Saturday, July 23. From bike geeks to hipsters and weekend warriors to commuters, this annual celebration will fill the waterfront with more than 25,000 biking enthusiasts. Pedalfest-goers will enjoy bicycling daredevils performing in a 30-foot banked wooden drome; dazzling two-wheeled stunts by pro riders; a Rock the Bike pedal-powered stage featuring live music; kids bicycle parade; inventive cycling creations from Whymcycles; pedal-powered food; an e-bike test track; amphibious bike demos; roaming two penny bikes; and a dazzling collection of new, vintage and handmade bikes.

The San Francisco Bay Area’s favorite dance series is Dancing Under the Stars and it continues at Jack London Square, taking place Friday nights through August 26! Free to attend, Dancing Under the Stars invites everyone to join in the free outdoor fun and learn several dances under the starry night sky including the cha cha, East Coast swing, salsa, bachata and night club two-step. Each week, professional dance instructor Bradley Montoya will take on a new dance with lessons at 8:30 p.m., followed by a mixed music dance party from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Jack London Square is also the place to cozy up Thursday evenings for outdoor screenings of hit movies as part of the Waterfront Flicks series, presented by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Free to attend, Waterfront Flicks will host fan favorites at sundown including Selena (July 7) and Star Wars – The Force Awakens (July 21). From date night to family fun night, showgoers can start their evenings early with dinner at one of Jack London Square’s waterfront restaurants, or pick up a quick bite from one of the casual eateries to enjoy during the screening. Moviegoers should arrive early with blankets in-hand for pre-film festivities including small eats, trivia and giveaways.

In addition to all the special events, Jack London Square offers food, drinks and entertainment at Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House, Plank, Rosenblum Cellars, Bocanova, Forge Pizza, Haven, Lungomare and more. Visitors can easily bike, ferry, BART or drive to Jack London Square. For additional information, visit www.jacklondonsquare.com.
